Can you detect leukemia only after a week of having symptoms?
My friend was experincing leukemia symptoms: fatique, weight loss, bleeding gums, excessive bruising, paleness, bone and jone pain. So, after a week of these symptoms, I encouraged her to get a blood test (a CBC) and the results came back fine (no anemia, no leukemia) is it possible that it was too early to detect the leukemia? anybody got any ideas on what this could be if it isn't leukemia?

That's real anemia, classic symptoms. Leukemia would be detectable.

Once a person actually shows symptoms of leukemia, chances are they had it for a long time before it's detected. A lot of cancers are like that. We walk around thinking we are perfectly healthy then all of a sudden, symptoms appear. So yes, if she had leukemia, it would have shown in those blood tests. She is a classic case for anemia. She must have anemia that's more serious than most. That alone is strong cases can be very serious and could cause her to be very sick. I'm sure by now, her Dr has told her what to do. Good luck, She doesn't have leukemia if the tests were negative and I know the Dr would have looked for that as well. Hope you feel better about that.blessing

A CBC would have detected it especially if there are that many symptoms,Your friend is fine they could just be dehydrated or have some kind of virus.I have ALL leukemia I didn't have that many symptoms within a week and I wasn't diagnosed based on those symptoms.

Yes the only way to be 100% certain is a bone marrow biopsy.
