Lucy's Love Bus™ eases the suffering of pediatric cancer patients by providing free integrative therapies such as massage, acupuncture, and therapeutic horseback riding to children with cancer and children coping with late effects of prior cancer treatment.
Lucy Grogan was 8 years old when she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. After four years of treatment, one relapse and a bone marrow transplant, Lucy died on July 21st, 2006, at the age of 12. During Lucy's long illness, our friends and family raised money to help support Lucy in her fight. Lucy discovered the benefits of integrative therapies durig her treatment, and throuh the generosity of our community, Lucy was able to receive significant relief through acupuncture, massage, Reiki and chiropractic care. Two weeks before her death, Lucy told her mother that when she was "done" with cancer she wanted to start a program that would provide free integrative therapies to children undergoing cancer treatment. Lucy defined the mission of the organization and the services it would provide. Since 2006, we have been delivering love and comfort to children with cancer by offering integrative therapies that help manage the side effects and late effects of traditional cancer

Your organization has a compelling story, which is one of the main things needed when raising money because people want to give to an organization doing worthwhile work.
First, ask for gifts from people who have benefitted from your organization. You can also ask those people to help you reach their friends and families to request donations. Also ask people who are providing the therapies as well as anyone else who has a direct connection to your organization (including board members, volunteers and staff).
Next, look for people who are likely to have an interest in your organization. I recommend targeting your donation requests to people who have similar interests such as accupunturists, massage therapists and chiropractors as well as their clients.
Most fundraising is conducted with people who have a connection to your organization or a shared interest, so those are the best places to start.
