How long does it take?
How long does does it take from initial diagnosis of chronic lymphocytic leukemia for symptoms to start showing on the patient

- Bad Kitty!
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia isn't usually diagnosed until it is symptomatic, so the symptoms begin before the diagnosis in most cases.

It's one of these conditions when, over time, the patient starts feeling ill, begins having night sweats and frequent infections, loses weight, and bruises easily. At that point the doctor will do a blood test and make the diagnosis.

My mother died of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, it was an eight year battle. She had no symptoms and it was found after she had a fall. She was the first of eight women who were found to have the same disease and the last to die. This was 1978 when they found it. They had to remove fluid from around her heart to make the diagnosis. In the end she developed Lymphatic Leukemia.
