My boyfriend fought leukemia as a child.Will my baby have it too?
My sister just found out she was pregant. Her and her long time boyfriend Eric have been dating since she was 13yr old off and on the logest they have been broken up is 4 months lol and now she 19. Eric is my age 21.
Eric had leukemia when he was a child but fought it and now is normal and healthy but has complications every know and then w/ his heart. He goes to and anual check up every yr ever since he fought his cancer. When he was fighting the cancer the doc gave him some kind of medican that would have a lot of risks as he got older and one of them was not being able to have kids. A couple of years ago he went to his anual check up and the doc said he had an 85% change of not having kids.
My sister has always had complications with abnormal periods and ovarain sists, ovarian pains....so her chance wasn't that high either.
When she found out she was pregant she couldn't belive it! my oldest sister bought her a pergancey test because she was gianing weight. So she went to the doc and they said according to the ultrasound and not knowing her last period she was 17 weeks pregant. WOW!!!!! but she said that couldn't be right because they got back together 2 weeks before my baby was born (feb 11th 2009) and the ultrasound nurse said that it was very hard to tell because my sister has no idea when her last period was. So she guess her last one was in Oct.
anyway...do you think the baby might have complications because of Erics leukemia ???

As far as I know, thay type of cancer is not hereditory. The baby might be at a slightly higher risk but nothing to be concerned about.
