It really depends on how his treatments are going and how well he is responding to chemo.....and ,also his diet, exercise, sleep. Many things depend on his long term survival rate, everyone responds different to his/her treatments.I hope that he gets well, and I wish him and you the very very best in life...Just tell him to "Keep fighting",GOD BLESS!!!

It really depends on different factors, the individual, the social support, and the kind of medical treatment available to the patient. I actually help families do research on the different treatment available, and the trials going on to treat that particular medical condition!

Like what others said depends on the person.treatment etc.. Given his age he has a high survival rate!
Young people have a better chance of beating cancer.I have ALL too I had it once as a little kid and I have it now,I'm 18.My oncologist said ALL is one of the better cancers meaning it's easier to cure and has a higher success rate for remission. It's a very common cancer that oncologist's see all the time.I wish him all the best!!
Goodluck chemo sucks but it will help!

www.cancer.gov -click on Leukemia then find ALL. This is one of the best sources of info.
Statistics mean NOTHING. It's all about the individual ..every human body is different and every human body has its own chance, regardless of statistics, to beat anything. Don't even think about statistics..What counts is the mental determination of the patient and..yes, faith in God.
Once a diagnosis is given, it's best to get a second opinion, b/c leukemia can be of several subtypes etc..there's a genetic testing done. Again, each individual has his/her own genetic make-up.
Not all hospitals are the same. There are neighborhood hospitals and then there are Cancer Centers...not every hospital is a cancer center (and I am not refering to the commercial about "Cancer Centers of America," this is something else, an accreditation of some sort, based on the size of the hospital and the type of comprehensive cancer care they offer). There are standard treatments (as you can see on www.cancer.gov) for each cancer...and options to chose.
A bone marrow transplant is with its own risks. Ask doctors QUESTIONS, such as how many transplants they've done in their hospital, how many transplants were of the age of this patient and ..ask what is the survival rate of a transplant, in their hospital (over 5 years survival rate and more). Fyi, there are several types of transplants...the one with a non-related donor really needs to be a good match. Insist and ask questions, do not be intimidated by doctors.
Your friend is young..if he's relatively healthy otherwise he should have a very good chance.
Please have FAITH in God, pray for your friend all the time!
