Are there ANY cures for leukemia in cats?

Are there ANY cures for leukemia in cats?
I think my kitten has it... He is such a sweet heart so I'm open to any hope that's out there.

There's no cure for flv and it's not like human leukemia. FLV is contagious and deadly to other cats. If you would take your kitty to the vet for his vaccinations, they will test him for flv and aids and if he tests positive, will suggest him being euthanized to protect other cats and put him out of his misery.

There are no cures but treatments that do help and possibly extend life but overall if you catch it early you have a better chance than later. Sorry I know what you are going through. Good luck

I'm sorry but there is no cure for feline leukemia. You should have your kitten tested rather than simply worrying about it.

For cats exposed to the virus one of three things can happen.

1. The cat may rid the virus from it's own system before the infection reaches the bone marrow and causes persistent infection.
2. The cat can go into "chronic carrier state," in which it reaches a "stand-off," with the virus.
3. The cat dies from the effects of the virus within weeks to months.

The vast majority of those that do "recover," are those in group (1) and this is very rare in the unvaccinated cat population. Worse news yet is regarding kittens. Kittens born with or exposed to the virus simply don't have a strong enough immune system to fight the virus making them very "poor doers," and unfortunately, most die within the first 6 months of life.

Take your kitty to the vet so you know what you are facing. I wish you the best and hope for "good news."

Yes, there is both a cure and control for feline leukemia. My cousin in Delaware has been going through his with her cat. It's cost her a fortune so far ($ 24,000.00) to date but, that's what she wants to pay.
