biopsy just one week after last chemo?
my mother finished her last chemo cycle 7 days ago for AML (acute myloid leukemia) She went into remission after the very first chemotherapy she received which was in April. Today she was admitted into hospital because blood red blood count and low platelets which is normal after chemo. She typically needs blood a week or two after she finishes chemo. Today her oncologist freaked her out by saying he was performing another biopsy tomorrow because he thinks leukemia may be back because her low blood but why would he say this when it is normal after every chemo session for her to need blood? She is very worried/sad now. She is not experiencing any of the symptoms she had when she was first diagnosed such as enlarged spleen. I'm trying to keep her spirits up but oncologist really scared her. Why would he be performing biopsy just one week after chemo? Anyone had this happen before?
to "nolymatch4u" when a family member is suffering from cancer you dont think "wow I should boost try natural or organic cures" there are times when chemotherapy is the only hope you have to keep your loved one alive.your answer did not help me whatsoever if anything its only made me feel worse...

Chemotherapy does NOT work. It is abusive, costly, and terribly bad science. Ask your oncologist if you took some of your mother's cancer and put it in you if you would get the cancer? See what he says. I think you will find he will tell you that your immune system, because you are healthy, will kill the cancer. This is why you can't catch cancer from someone.
The problem she is having is that she is in the "system" where BIG money dominates the type of cure recommended. 2.1% is the survival rate of 5 years when getting chemotherapy in America today. If your immune system would kill the cancer, why not make your mother's immune system strong and healthy so it will kill the cancer? Instead, the poison a person, destroy the immune system's ability to fight back and rely on BAD SCIENCE to extract BIG bags of money.
People who elect not to get chemo live longer than those who get it. Those that opt to strengthen their immune system, build health, and avoid the "fear tactics" used to scare people into poisoning themselves seem to have much better results. Something caused the problem. Did the doctor investigate the root cause or just treat the symptoms with chemo? Do you know where the infection(s) are in the body generating the cancer?
EDIT: I'm not trying to make you feel worse, just tell you the truth and give you a dose of reality that we all must face. Fear is one of the worst things the medical community uses to instill some kind of urgency and belief that their solution is the only way to fight cancer, but the reality is that their methods are simply not working. It is more than obvious that after 100 years of researching, the best thing they can offer a person is POISONS that destroy the immune system and degrade a person's life.
The medical community will tell you that diabetes type 2 cannot be cured and you will have to take meds for the rest of your life to "control it." Yet, here is a medical doctor that took it upon himself to look at another approach using food and detoxing to solve the problem. 6 people participated in a study he did and they do NOT have diabetes now after 30 days. Cancer is the ultimate assault on the body and yet each of us fights off about 6 cancers in our lifetime. It is those with weak immune systems that suffer the most. In 1905, the CDC reported that Americans suffered less than 5% of chronic illnesses. In 2005, the same CDC reported over 53% of ALL Americans were suffering from chronic illnesses. There are good reasons for this, but to think medical science has done their job is WRONG. We consume and make over 70% of all the drugs in the world and yet our life expectancies are behind 12 other countries.
Focusing on BUILDING HEALTH and supporting a good immune system is the best chance against cancer, but that is NOT a drug solution, so the medical industry is NOT going to support that. There is NO money in doing that. Follow the money!

He is trying to be honest with your mother. I do not know the circumstances surrounding this case, but her doctor is acting on experience. He is hoping that he is wrong, but if the AML has returned than that is information that he will need and that your mother will need as well. I know that as a cancer patient she only wants to hear the good news .. but that is not reality. So this is where the live strong and be strong comes into play. Her oncologist needs to do this biopsy for your mother and find out the truth no matter if it is good or bad.
I know how nervous and sick you feel .. this is all normal. I know her fear. But neither of you are alone. There are others out there who have gone through the same fears. I would suggest that you join an online support group for AML . . they can give you support, share information, encouragement, ideas, and give some guidance on what to expect or if any of this is 'common' for AML.
