Common Tests for Leukemia and Spinal Tap Questions. Help Needed.?
I'm trying to learn as much as i can about being tested for leukemia and tests that are involved with it.

I know about the bone marrow aspiration.
Can you explain what a spinal tap tests for? and also, please tell me about any other tests done for leukemia.
Thank you a ton!

- Stephen
A lumbar punture (spinal tap) is used to detect leukemic cells in the CNS it also may be used to intrucuce drugs (usually methotrexate) into the CNF to try to clear these cells.
regular blood tests are done as well as bone marrow exams
