Feline Leukemia Virus?

Feline Leukemia Virus?
My 2 year old kitty has been tested for "Feline Leukemia Virus" Everything came out normal for the test (Thank God) I didn't want to go through that again with a cat. Anyway, does it make a cat sore after having the test? Seems like she's in a bad mood...Hissing and growling at the poor dogs and she's walking kinda slow. They never told me anything at the vets if she was going to be sore or not and they were pretty busy.

For those who had the test done for their cats, let me know if there is side affects after the test?

The test requires 3 drops of blood. It is usually taken from a back leg, which most cats will hate. It shouldnt make her sore. In a bad mood, probably, depending on the cat. If shes still sore tomorrow, take her back, maybe she started freaking out and hurt herself that way? But the test itself should not hurt her.

I can't say for sure about the soreness, but my cats have had some fatigue sometimes after vaccination. I would call your vet back and ask about whether the symptoms your cat is having might be a side effect or an allergic reaction to the vaccine. If the vet is "too busy" to answer your question or if they blow you off, this is not the vet for you. Keep calling vets until you get a satisfactory answer.

They only take a little blood out of her. She is probably in a bad mood because you took her to the vet. Sounds like she is just throwing a temper tantrum. What the other person said about the vaccine is right. If she received any vaccinations, she may not be in a great mood for a few days.

Beijing, a Feline Leukemia (FeLV) Positive Kitten at Calmar at Best Friends Animal Society

This is Beijing. She came to Casa de Calmar, Best Friends Animal Society's Feline Leukemia building, in August 2008. I was volunteering there when I saw this tiny skinny girl with big eyes sometimes popped up and ran through their lobby area. Joni, Calmar's caregiver, told me they just had her only about a few days before and they just named her "Beijing" that day because that's where Summer Olympic was held. This super sweet thing loved to play! I had a blast just playing with her. Feline Leukemia (FeLV) is a virus based disease which can suppress the cat's immune system. Once they tested positive, they are usually the first ones to be put down at shelters and even at vets. But they can live long healthy lives and I heard Calmar had a kitty who lived like 19 years if not 21 years (I can't remember which, sorry). And also some cats can successfully fight it off, Kitty Motel's Jessica is an example. She used to live in Calmar, fought it off and moved to Kitty Motel. She's now a very healthy gorgeous cat and she just donated her blood to a dying cat. Unfortunately, our Beijing has crossed over the rainbow bridge last week. She was only two years old but Beijing's days were filled with love and happiness. She was surrounded and loved by many amazing people and her beloved Calmar Lobby brothers and sisters.
