How does cord blood cure leukemia?

How does cord blood cure leukemia?
I'm doing a project for biology, and that is my topic. I can't find much on HOW it cures leukemia, other than it has been proved too because it has stem cells.
If anyone has any information on this topic, that would help me out a lot! Even if just a few sources were listed.
Thanks!

go to google and type in stem cell research, it isn't cord blood that cures leukemia, it is the stem cells in the blood that they use.

Cord blood can be used in place of bone marrow in a bone marrow transplant because it is contains the same type of stem cells that bone marrow contains.

Using cord blood has some pros AND some cons when being used.

You need to read up on what a bone marrow transplant is and how it works, and why cord blood can be substituted for bone marrow.

I generally dont like doing other peoples homework, but you should like you have absolutely no clue, so there is a step in the right direction.

As the answerers have said above, the stem cells do not do anything to "cure" the malignancy. They help rebuild the normal bone marrow cells after very aggressive combination chemotherapy has been given to eradicate the malignant clone of leukemic cells. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2004/11/041129112109.htm
