How long does it take to treat leukemia?
Apparently, my friend told me that his 8 year old sister has cancer and I find it really rare and cruel that someone that young has cancer.. anyone know how long it takes for doctors to cure it? And if so, what is the treatment that the doctors do? I'm going to guess that his sister is going to be in the hospital for quite some time..

My husband had leukemia. it lasted two years with alot of radiation and marrow transplant.

Leukemia is extremely complex, and the treatment is just as complex. Some physicians devote entire careers to studying and treating one kind of leukemia.
At age 8, the most common kind of leukemia is ALL. This is usually very treatable within a timeframe of months to a year or so.
But, there are many many may kinds of leukemia with an extremely complex array of treatments that changes from year to year because of better treatments. Bottom line...it's hard to say.
