Negative pregnancy test while pregnant?

Negative pregnancy test while pregnant?
My girl friend had a doctors appointment recently and found out she is pregnant. She later on had problems with bleeding, and found out she had fibrous toumors, and later found out she has acute leukemia. She has been a month pregnant since the time she had the doctors apointment. Has taken a pregnancy test before and it said she was pregnant. Just last night and two nights ago she took a pregnancy test and it came negative in two different type of brand tests. I want to know if this is normal, or if this might be a sign that there are problems with the baby. since she found out she was pregnant she has not taken any medication or treatments, the only thing she has done is check ups.

It sounds like she might be having a miscarriage to me, that's the only thing that would lower the levels of her growth hormones so that a test will no longer be able to detect the pregnancy. Miscarriages are often linked with leukemia, tied in with the bleeding you said she had earlier it really sounds like something is wrong. I would have her go back to the doc immediately. Sorry, but this is something to be concerned about. Good luck to her.

Hormones level out in pregnancy and may not be detected on urine tests but this is usually later in pregnancy.

Unless her urine is too diluted by fluids, or she is not waiting to take the tests, in early pregnancy peoples hormones can be low/slow rising so i the test is taken within 4 hours of passing urine, then the test may show negative.

If concerned, talk to the doctor, get an ultrasound and blood tests done to see pregnancy status.

Good luck.

Add:
Many things can affect the accuracy of a urine test, no matter early or late pregnancy. Just because this person has a negative test after a positive does not mean miscarriage. Many internal factors can alter pregnancy tests eg kidney function. Also keep in mind that some people never get a positive urine test, for some reason, a positive urine test is impossible for some and they require blood tests.
Cannot say if your gf has lost or loosing her baby or if things are ok. Your doctor needs to be seen.
I'd rather not tell a stranger that it is most likely a miscarriage, when it may not be.

Absolutely not true! So long as your pregnant you will ALWAYS have enough HCG to trigger a HPT!

I did a clinical rotation at the county jail, it was mandatory regardless of how much one was showing, that they have a HPT at the time of booking to get their *pregnancy diet*

7,8,9 months pregnant have ALL tested positive!

Sounds like she had a miscarriage from the bleeding

23. AIDS (II)

Epidemics in Western Society Since 1600 (HIST 234) Dr. Margaret Craven discusses HIV/AIDS from the perspective of a front-line clinician. AIDS is unprecedented in both the speed with which it spread across the globe and in the mobilization of efforts to control it. It is a disease of modernity. Along with the relative ease and velocity of modern transportation methods, other background conditions include Western medicine, with hypodermic needles and bloodbanking, intravenous drug use, and the development and concentration of gay culture. In the US, early public health attempts at understanding and combating the virus were hindered by right-wing domestic political and religious forces. Successful containment of epidemics cannot be achieved under the spell of hypocrisy and politicization; rather, medicine and education must be evidence-based and practical.
