Paul D. Arko tea for cancer patients?

Paul D. Arko tea for cancer patients?
I am female, 51, and was diagnosed with CML (leukemia) on 02-18-06, I'm taking Gleevec and its working and yes I'm experienceing all the side effects and loss of hair. I am trying to find out anything I can about this tea. Has anyone tried it or heard of it? I will ask my dr. on my next visit. I'm sure he won't recommend anything like that since his visits are so expensive. Everytime I go I get a shot to build up my red blood cell count which costs $ 1800.00 (what a rip off) and $ 36.00 for the nurse to give me the shot, heck I can give it to myself and save the fee if they would let me. I'd like advice from anyone.

Apparently, some people do use pau d' arco for cancer. However, according to the book I have on herbal medicines, it is not a cure for cancer, so do not discontinue the meds you are on.
Side effects are nausea, pinkish urine, unusual or excessive bleeding, and vomiting. Avoid if you are pregnant or breast feeding; if you have a blood clotting disorder, i.e. hemophilia, von Willeband's disease, or thrombocytopenia. Do not use if you are on blood thinners.

I've heard of pau d'arco, but have not had any experience with myself. (I did look up the correct spelling, though, in case you'd like to research it more thoroughly.)

In my experience, most doctors of Western medicine feel that there is no place for alternative treatments when it comes to cancer.

If this is something you're interested in pursuing, you may want to seek the counsel of a certified naturopathic physician who can teach you more about this remedy and other alternative cancer treatments. They may also be able to coordinate with your primary doctor to ensure that none of your alternative treatments counteract with your "traditional" cancer medicine.

Whatever you decide, just remember that it's your body, and no one but you has the right to make decisions about how you treat it.

Best of luck.
