Sick cat looks like he wants to eat but won't?
I just brought my kitty home from the vet-he became very ill the other day, and he stayed two nights in the animal hospital. The diagnosis is still unknown. His symptoms are:
1. Anemia
2. Low red blood cell count
3. Non-regenerative red blood cells (body not producing young cells to replace old or depleted cells)
4. Weakness
5. Refuses food or water (he's being force-fed on a regular basis)
6. Drastic weight loss over a period of a few days.
Vet said she doesn't know but it's NOT feline aids or leukemia.
Personally, I think he was poisoned by an antimicrobial spray that my complex sprayed on my carpets after a flood, which contained Triclosan (a.k.a Microban).
Anyhow, to the point-(sorry to those who read my last posted question-plenty of redundancy)
He keeps walking towards the bowl of water but he just won't drink it. He even grazed his mouth on it, but still, he made no further attempt to actually drink the water. He even got up, walked into the kitchen to the dogs water bowl, sat in front of it, leaned over it, and....nothing.
Why would he be doing this? What is stopping him from drinking? Is he looking for something else to drink, or does he just not want to open his mouth?!?!?
I'm fighting for this little guy..any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You should buy a syringe from the pet store and fill it with water and feed it to him like that. Maybe he is just too weak to want to open his mouth so you should try to keep him hydrated with the syringe. Hope he gets better, good luck.

I agree with unknown. Another thing you can try is a little bit of kitten formula in the water you put
in the syringe, or mix a little bit of goat milk in the water. Is it possible that your cat drank some antifreeze? There is a remedy for that, but you have to be 100% sure that's what poisoned the cat to use it. Good luck

have you tried tuna? maybe the smell of the tuna will help him eat or at least lick the juice of the tuna. if you decide to force him to drink you might ask the vet about dextros or sugar water, i know that helped when i had a kitten that was to lethargic to eat, it was a life saver.i also used a paste called nutrical it has alot of vitamins that kitty needs and you just put the paste in his mouth or on his mouth if he is licking himself and that to is a life saver. if you try these and other things and it dont help and if the kitty is in pain or is suffering the kindest thing will to have him put down, i know thats not what you want to hear but when it comes down to it, it may be the best thing and the hardest thing to do, i know because iv had to do this to a couple of mine, but i held them as it was happening and i felt that its what had to be done and that they were no longer suffering or in pain. but i hope you dont have to go that route, and i hope that your kitty gets better and quick and stays better and lives a full happy life with you. please let me know what happens. and i forgot to mention that if you do force water feed the kitty be careful that you dont rush to much water down his throat so that he dont choke on the water,so just please be careful.
