Vegan Leukemia and Anemia.?

Vegan Leukemia and Anemia.?
They say that Vegan diet is low in Vitamin B12 so they have big possibilities that they can get Vitamin B12 Deficiency Anemia. I know a Vegan since birth. But instead of having B12 deficiency anemia, He got Leukemia. Why did he get Leukemia?

- Maggie M.
Because his diet is both unnatural, and unhealthy!

Nobody can answer your question, because nobody knows what causes leukaemia or most other cancers. The one thing you can be sure of is that it wasn't caused by his vegan diet - lack of meat or dairy is not a risk factor for any cancer and vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters alike all get cancer. He didn't get leukaemia 'instead of' any other disease, he just got it.

I don't know who 'they' are, but I've never actually met or heard of a vegan with B12 deficiency anaemia. Perhaps you should stop listening to 'them'?

Btw, your first answerer isn't a doctor, he's a young college kid who trolls this section. Earlier today he began trolling the YA Cancer section, suggesting that children with cancer were a drain on society and should be allowed to die, and that children with cancer should be used to test cosmetics since they are going to die anyway (he's too ignorant to know that 7 out of 10 children with cancer are cured). Even those who are used to his trolling will be shocked by this - he is well aware that the Cancer section's users include parents who are watching their children die of cancer or have recently lost their children to cancer.

Here is information and possible causes of leukemia.

It's better to read about what actual doctors say as opposed to paying any attention to career trolls who type "doctor" into their sources area.

People get leukemia regardless of their dietary choices. I think it's safe to say that most people with leukemia eat meat. I wouldn't say that caused it either.

Healthy vegetarian and vegan diets have been shown to reduce a person's chances of developing several types of cancer.

Vegans, who don't eat any animal products, DO need a source of B12. There are cases of vegans who developed problems because of deficiency. Supplements and fortified soymilk and cereals can supply adequate amounts.
