the doctor thinks it is Osteochondroma but is not for sure if it might be Osteosarcoma.
Just wondering.. what is the difference?

Osteosarcoma is cancer.

- Tarkarri
Osteochondroma is a benign (not cancer) tumour.
Osteosarcoma is a bone cancer tumor.

- JLI
Both are neoplasms. The osteochondroma is a benign (non-cancerous) tumor made of bone and cartilage cells. The osteosarcoma is a malignant (cancerous) tumor originating from bone cells.

Anytime you see a tumor ending on sarcoma, it is some kind of cancer. And the preceding syllable(s) tells you what kind of cells the cancer originate from.
