What would happen if someone with Leukemia also developed AIDS?
I mean, it seems as though the two diseases are exact opposites. AIDS basically renders your white blood cells useless..while Leukemia over produces and like all cancers creates rapid growth of white blood cells. What would to happen if someone developed both diseases? Is it possible that one could cure the other? You know..just food for thought!

This is a good question. The worst part is that you can get it with Leukemia from
blood transfusions. Or at least you use to be able to because the blood was not
checked very well for aids. But in both causes some of the drugs needed to kill the
leukemia will help with the aids as well but like one guy said you would be screwed.
because you would be to sick to fight off infections as well as the cancer would not
be able to be effectively fought off cause of the aids. and you would not live very long.
sorry but the out come is grim. I had A L L Leukemia and was glad I did not get any
blood born diseases like aids I had it when aids was still a un known problem for the
most part. But it is less likely now than then . But there are more than one way to get
aids too. So don't do drugs like iv drugs with others and don't do un protected behaviors
that can lead to aids. and the doctors will screen the blood before transfusions.
