Yet another cloning question. Let's talk about perfection. Shall we?

Yet another cloning question. Let's talk about perfection. Shall we?
At some point our knowlage in cloning and genetic engineering is going to advance greatly. We'd be able to produce humans that are genetically immune to all deseases, stronger, quicker blood cloth and an improved immunity system.

Imagine. All humans born perfectly healthy. People will no longer suffer from cancer, Leukemia and any other desease.

All people will be born looking like:

and no risk of anthing like:

In the future scientists will be able to play 'god' and make a better job of it. Or would you prefare watching your baby slowly die from Harlequin type ichthyosis?

What do you think?

I totally agree evil. The point I was trying to make is that at some point we'd be able to give life to people without all the flaws and dangers which are mostly inherited genetically.
Ephemerae: Yes, however as a new strain of virus comes out and studied, that info would be used to make the next generation immune to it. Kinda like an antivirus.

Also I completely disagree with being able to change the look of your children before birth.

Um, I'd prefer to see the population crisis averted before we start worrying about making humans immune to disease.

I have nothing against cloning, but we already have limited resources that are strained. Preventing them from dying of disease won't stop them dying of hunger.

I would say yes to genetically enhanced babies that are immune to genetic defects and have an improved immune system...

To make them immune to diseases though, is a double-edged sword...

On the one hand, they won't have to suffer the myriad of diseases that we are afflicted by today, but then what happens when a new strain of a virus or bacteria comes out? They will be unprepared for what it's like if you've sheltered them all these years...

As for designer babies...?
(Being able to change looks, abilities, etc..)

...Whatever happened to unconditional love?

If we can genetically adapt theoretical humans to be immune to disease, we should be able to adapt existing humans to be immune to disease, and that would be better than creating another home-less babe.

first of all, ur point of healing and curing diseases is true and may help our everyday life. However, if a person was genetically modified, this will lead extinction of the human race. In other words, all genes would be identicle; no gene diversity; no human race. Second of all, u might think it's a very nice thing to do for to the society and people but, actually, cloning hasnt reached it's perfection levels yet, to be clearer; not even close. Why would a person risk the health of a baby that can come naturally? Although as u said, they can be cured, but what if they were retarded? how would science be able to cure them? In my opinion It's just a gigantic step towards distruction and it's a big waste of time, money and effort.
( By the way it usually takes more than a thousand egg, at a time, from the ovary to clone a single organ successfully; in that way, less "natural people" will be out there ).
