Any agency to help adopt feline leukemia cats??

Any agency to help adopt feline leukemia cats??
I am trying to find an agency that will adopt out cats with feline leukemia. I wish I could keep her, but I can't keep "Lilly", because I already have a cat and fel/leuk is very contagious to other cats. She's very sweet and would make a great pet for someone. I live in the New Orleans area. I've searched the internet, and checked with the SPCA and 2 vets in my area, and I don't have a lead. Please help...I really don't want to euthanize, but I'm running out of humane options.

try looking at www.petfinder.com to search for rescue groups. You will probably have to find a rescue who takes in only positive feline leukemia cats. would you ever concider keeping lilly and adopting the other cat out, than adopting another feline leukemia cat?

It seems unlikely.

If you don't want to keep her, why would someone else? There are lots of unwanted animals in this world.

Bless you for trying to find a home for Lilly instead of euthanizing her.

I ran into this same situation when a stray with FIV found me. My vet recommended not bringing him into my household due to the ages/illnesses of my cats. I fought euthanizing him. I was lucky to find a rescue in central Virginia that could take care of him for me. That agency is Caring For Creatures. They do take FeLV cats, too. I am sure this is too far for you in Louisana.

Do check with The Marley Fund. They specialize in FeLV cats. I found info on them when I was researching rescues for my Freddie. They are in North Carolina. I did go and check them before I answered this question. They have link under "Adopt a Kitty" to submit Courtesy Listings. They also have rescue shelters for FeLV kitties. I hope they can help your Lilly, or at least provide some leads!

Purrs and prayers for you, Lilly and your other kitty!
