can tegretol cause leukemia?
One of the side effects of tegretol is it messes with the white blood cells, if a family member has cronic leukemia, if another family member is taking tegretol, can it cause leukemia?

It is stated that small reductions in white cell count and serum sodium are common. That means you may suffer from leukopenia and not leukemia.
Leukemia or leukaemia (see spelling differences) is a cancer of the blood or bone marrow and is characterized by an abnormal proliferation (production by multiplication) of blood cells, usually white blood cells (leukocytes). It is part of the broad group of diseases called hematological neoplasms.
Please see the web pages for more details on Carbamazepine (generic name) Tegretol (brand name)

obviously Tegretol should not be taken by someone with Leukemia, because in large doses it can cause aplastic anemia.....but, it has not been found to cause Leukemia or any other cancer in those who take it properly and who are otherwise healthy.
