Child Leukemia? What can I donate? I really need help ASAP, please.?
My best friend's son, 8 years old, has just been diagnosed with leukemia. I wanted some basic information on what causes leukemia and what the treatments are. Can people donate anything, ie blood, organs? Please answer as thoroughly as you can. Thank you for this information and keep praying for this child.

I found a few good sites, but the one I included looked the best.
God bless the child and you for your kind heart.

They haven't really decided what exactly causes leukemia yet. Radiation is really the only real established risk factor.
As for treatment, it varies. There are many types of Leukemia, as these require different treatment. Often chemotherapy is used in conjunction with radiotherapy. The radiotherapy is full body and any number of chemo drugs can be used.
You can donate bone marrow, but you have to be an exact match, and the procedure is really painful.
Best wishes to the child.
