creating a blog to raise money for a 4yr old with leukemia?
hes not my son, but ONE of my friends two kids. shes a single mom and really struggling. Id love to help her but im still in college and obviously broke myself. im gonna send her a check for probably $ 50, which doesnt do much. hes been in the hospital for 2 months. they tried to take him home recently but his fever shot up & he had to be rushed back. she cant work since shes the only parent & needs to be with him. they are having a small town fundraiser for them, but like i said, its small town & the economy sucks. so its hard for people to give even $ 20. totally understandable. So im thinking if i create a global blog i can put a paypal button on it and even if people give just $ 1 or $ 2 each, it will add up? problem is, i have no clue how to create a blog. could anyone help me set on up with a with some kind of donation button? i really would love to help her, and its all i can think of. thanks.
k so i already had paypal for ebay etc. i created a blogspot & figured out the donate button (a miracle haha im horrible w.computers). so now im trying to figure out how to advertise it? legally? without upsetting people who think its a scam? thanks.

I am touched by your kindness.
You can create a blog with blogger.com for FREE.
For PayPal donation button,

2. Click on 'Merchant Services' tab.
3. Under 'PayPal Website Payments Standard' section, click one of the key features called - 'Donations'.
4. Click 'Create Button'

You should check out Facebook...look at what others have done on there, because you can setup a charity/group thing pretty easy.
If you want to do it through a regular website, then look at a service like PayPal Donate. It's relatively easy to setup.
Honestly, the hard part with a website is that promotion isn't as easy. You'll get over the technical stuff (or find someone who will help you), but getting visitors is never easy. With the social networking sites - that's built in, even if your audience isn't naturally as large.
