Have you ever known of someone who had Acute Adult Myeloid Leukemia?

Have you ever known of someone who had Acute Adult Myeloid Leukemia?
Someone close to me has just been diagnosed with it. He's 63 y/o & just had triple heart bypass & now this. If you know anyone who has/had this, can you tell me if chemo was affective & did they have bone marrow transplant, etc.? Thank you in advance.
I'm so glad the lady you know is healed now. I believe in the power of prayer & the others, who are close to this special person I speak of, believe in it as well. This person can draw strength from all of us, as we leave it in God's hands. Thank you for kindness. :)
rhumba girl...I hope your husband is doing well. Thank you so much for sharing these websites with me. I will check them out for sure right after dinner. Thanks again. :)
Survivor...I'm so sorry to hear of your sadness & losses. I will keep you in my thoughts & prayers. You lost your brother at age 68 & this special person is just 63 y/o. They caught the AAML early, so we're all hoping that the chemo will help. I know this type of leukemia is not "beatable" so we all pray that he can have a bone marrow transplant. The doctors weren't optimistic of him receiving it because of his age.
Thank you for your encouraging words. I'm so happy that all has worked out so well for your mom. I will keep her in my prayers.
Cheryl P....We're leaving it in God's hands & will continue to be as strong we all can be. He is a very strong person & we all want him to draw strength from us as well.

My husband had a type of leukemia. My best information came from reliable studies and groups I found on the Internet. Here are two very good ones. I hope you find your answers here.

So Sorry for the Problems!

My family has been hit hard wiht Cancer!

I lost my dad to Multiple Myeloma, Sister Ovarian Cancer, and a Brother to Myeloid Leukemia. Everyone is different. My Brother was diagnoised and in 6 months he was gone.
Some poeple have luck and there is hope, there was none for my Brother, unfortunately. He wa 68 years old.

I have Neutropenia/Leukopenia, and Lupus Anti-coagulant. Basically I have very few White Blood Cells. I have had 3 bone marrow biopsys, and have been hit hard in family with Cancer . And do much research.

I would suggest reading and also checking on line with those who have suffered. I wish you and the friend the best always!

My mother has multiple myeloma which is similar to Myeloid Leukemia. She did have a bone marrow transplant and was on Thalidomide and Dexemethosone for a few years. She was 64 when diagnosed and is now 68 and has been is remission for 3 years now. It is possible, don't lose hope. It's a difficult thing to go through for the patient and their family but worth a try for sure.

I knew a woman that was diagnosed early, had treatments, I don't know what kind, this was in the seventies. She lived another 20 years.

But my neighbor, the husband of a good friend, was diagnosed very late with it, and died within a week of the diagnosis.
