Jehovah's Witnesses's position on adult stem cell research?
I have searched for a Watchtower article on the subject but found nothing yet...
It's my understanding that embryonic stem cell research kills living human embryos during the harvesting of stem cells.
True Christians believe that life is sacred and life BEGINS at the moment of conception.
So I believe I am correct in believing the destruction of living human embryos to harvest embryonic stem cells is wrong in God's eyes.

However, stem cells can also be taken from umbilical cords, the placenta, amniotic fluid, adult tissues and organs including bone marrow, fat from liposuction, regions of the nose and even dead bodies up to 20 hours after death.("The Ten Great Myths in the Debate Over Stem Cell Research" by Tadeusz Pacholczyk, Ph.D. http://www.ncbcenter.org/10Myths.pdf)

Adult stem cells are used for all kinds of medical treatment including cancer, leukemias, Crohn´s Disease, diabetes, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, paralysis, Parkinson´s Disease, Sickle Cell Anemia, Stroke, and systemic vasculitis.

I would like to know what JWs position is on this.

If someone has been burnt badly, (third degree burns etc) and needs a skin graft (the trnasferring of healthy skin to the severely affected part), is this not the same thing as using adult stem cells?

Forgive my ignorance, I really don't know much on the subject but I am interested in hearing your views.

When I was a JW I remember reading an article in an Awake! magaizine called "Stem Cells: Has Science Gone Too far?"

I do not have the magaizine anymore unfortunately and I could not find an electronic version for you. You may be able to find it if you have access to an electronic Watchtower library...For the life of me I cannot recall anything significant about the article.

I found this article here...it is mostly to do with infertility but there are some mentions of stem cells...
