What's the difference between anemia and leukemia?

What's the difference between anemia and leukemia?
For a week I've been feeling no
Energy and weak. Even if I sleep 7-8 hours I'm exhausted. I browsed other questions and someone said their doctor thinks it's anemia or leukemia. I'm freaking out I'm so worried I couldn't sleep last night. I had it right before my period. Is it anemia or leukemia I'm trying to make appointments but clinics are busy and doctors are booked please help!!

Anemia is a lack of working red blood cells to transport oxygen around the body. There are number of different types of anemia. Sometimes you don't have enough red blood cells, sometimes you don't have enough iron, etc.

Leukemia is a cancer of the bone marrow, causing the blood cells the marrow produces to be malformed and not work correctly.

However, one week of fatigue is no reason to assume the worst. It could be nothing more than a virus. Don't freak out. Most doctors won't even see a reason to do testing after one week of fatigue.

Leukemia is Cancer
Anemia is Low iron levels
Unless you have your blood levels checked you will never know.
I suggest you make an appointment soon.

Well I'm not a doctor but I believe leukemia is cancer of the blood cells and anemia the lack of blood cells due to poor diet and low iron content. if you have no energy and you feel weak it sounds more like anemia which is not really life threatening, but i would get it checked out.

The whole difference in the world. First of, Leukemia is a type of cancer, basically it is a blood cancer which causes your bone marrow to produce immature blood cells, that interfere with the functioning of the other blood cells. Anemia, is an iron deficiency, when your blood lacks in iron, it can't transport enough oxygen, resulting in your feeling of exhaustion, but it is easily treated with some iron pills. I have chronic anemia, and it is a really foolish thing to freak out over that. One of the symptoms of leukemia is anemia, but anemia is a small blood disorder in itself, and many people have it, and it is more common in women, due to periods. Anemia only gets dangerous when your iron level is like on 2 , but obviously this is not the case. It is really not sensible to jump to conclusions from just something you read from the internet, and anyone would be exhausted if they normally only sleep 7 hours a day. The person you read about must be really dumb, because you have to be an idiot to be a doctor that confuses anemia with cancer. Leukemia has a bunch of different symptoms, and I am pretty sure you don't have it. Anemia is much more likely, though I doubt you have it either.
anyways, just in case, Good Luck
