All about Leukemia? Story help!?
I'm writing a story in which a girl gets diagnosed with Leukemia and really, I don't know much about it! Plz help me out if u can! I need help with the progressions of leukemia, like from the time she finds out to the time she dies....like if u have any ideas at all.....like for example: during the 7th week, the doctors tried starting her on chemo therapy and her hair started falling out.....IDK!! Just someone plz helpme cuz I don't know when any of this stuff happens...and don't just say "it varys" cuz I know it does but use ur imagination and plz help with my story!!! THANKS SO MUCH!!!

Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is cancer that starts inside bone marrow, the soft tissue inside bones that helps form blood cells. The cancer grows from cells that produce white blood cells. CML can occur in adults (usually middle-aged) and children. The disease affects 1 to 2 people per 100,000 and makes up about 7 - 20% cases of leukemia. It is usually associated with a chromosome abnormality called the Philadelphia chromosome.
I presume that the girl (heroine in your story) is suffering from chronic myelogenous leukemia. All other types of leukemia affect either small children or older people.
Most forms of leukemia are treated with pharmaceutical medications. Some are also treated with radiation therapy. In some cases, a bone marrow transplant is useful.

If you insist on writing about something about which you know nothing, spend lots of time doing research. Asking someone else to do your thinking is not actually research. Spend 50 hours on medical web sites reading about the subject. That's called research. That's what writers do.
