daughter is extremely sick!?

daughter is extremely sick!?
My one yr. old daughter? High white blood cells? Leukemia/infection? Help?
My daughter has had an ear infection off and on for two months now. She has had 5 antibiotics for this.
I brought her to the dr. today, and she still has an ear infection in both ears. She had a blood test, and it showed that she has an extremely high white blood cell count.
normal is 12,000, my daughter's is 18,000. Dr. said, that it means there is an infection somewhere.
Blood tests were done, because Dr.s said there could be an infection in her blood.
My question is? I looked up high white blood cell counts, and leukemia, and infection came up, when I looked up high white blood cells in children, leukemia comes up, w/ syptoms, including: Red eyes, abrnormal sleeping, as in restlesness/or drowsiness, well my daughter is staying up! I have been up for almost 72 hrs. I have my godmother over to help, because I need some sleep.
My daughter had a 106 fever last night. Urgent care, told me that if her fever reaches 103 tonight, to bring her straight to the hospital.
So..... is htis leukemia, please tell me it's not.
It could just be an infection from the ear right? I don't even know what to do i am so lost right now.
I thought she had pink eye, i asked the dr, she said, well it could be, and then did the blood test, and found the high white cell count, which they said is very high, extremely high, as they put it.
I'm a single mom, live on my own, my family is two hours away, and I begged my mom to come up, I have been hysterical, she won't come up, because her friend is putting his dad in the nursing home tomorrow, and she is going with. Her priorities are all screwed up, or am I being selfish? I am so lost!

My advice is not to make yourself crazy with what some internet search calls up. If we all self-diagnosed over the internet, we'd all be sure we were dying a thousand deaths. I can't tell you what the problem is (and neither can anyone else here), but I can tell you there are doubtless other explanations than the worst-case ones. Ask the doctor what the next step is and wait and see what the additional tests say.

Best wishes to your daughter.

The ONLY person who would be able to tell you if it is or not would be a medical professional who tested your child.

If the doctor didn't mention or even do tests for cancer, stop freaking your self out and self diagnosing. It will only cause high anxieties for you.

So, chill out and they will probably test her again at a later date.I know it is gnawing at your brain, but thinking rationally is the best way to go.

Good luck.

I'm really sorry. No, you are not being selfish - we are all wired to be extremely protective of our children and that's what you are doing. But:

1. Never assume the worst, hope for the best (it's just an infection) prepare for the worst, (take her to the doctors, listen to their advice, do what they say, push back if your intuition tells you they aren't doing everything in their power).

2. You will do her the most good when you are calm, confident, cooperative (with the Drs), etc. You have to take a deep breath, appear strong and confident for your daughter, appear competent to the doctors so they will tell you more and work with you more, sleep when she does, you need some rest. Understand?

I'm not a doctor, just a mom with some medical background. But it does sound like your daughter has quite an infection. Little ones her age are prone to ear infections and fevers. Red eyes, restlessness, pink eye are all part of an upper respiratory infection. Pink eye often comes from an ear infection.

When my kids were babies I always thought they had some terminal disease too. I think because I was working in the medical field it made me more aware of the awful things that can happen; and they never did.
I'd be willing to bet my life's savings that your little one does Not have leukemia.
I said a prayer for you to have peace, and for your daughter to get better.

Go to the hospital, and ask for her to be admitted.

You are probably paranoid, because you know, it's natural to be worried.

But you never know, and God forbid she is really sick, you want her to get the best care possible.

My cousin had the same symptoms, and as it turns out, she just gets sick easily - there was actually nothing wrong with her.

But we got bone marrow tests, and everyone was on edge for months.

Praying for you!!

AWARENESS: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a cancer of the white blood cells, the cells in the body that normally fight infections. Leukemia cells are abnormal cells that cannot do what normal blood cells do. The abnormal cells are immature white blood cells that cannot help the body fight infections. For this reason, children with ALL often get infections and have fevers. ALL is also called acute lymphocytic leukemia. It is the most common leukemia in children.
