I am having pet/cat problems.?

I am having pet/cat problems.?
I have a 13 year old male cat. He is my whole world and I've had him since I was 6. Well last week he supposedly got into a cat fight and the other cat clawed his cheek. It got infected and swelled up 3 times bigger than normal. Last night I took him to the vet and thry said it was a cyst. They lanced it, put him on medication, and he's suppose to be healing. Well on top of that, he's lost a few pounds and the vets afraid he might have feline leukemia. They said if he doesnt gain weight they'll do bloodwork to see if he does. I'm terrified he will, but its been almost 24 hours. This morning he didn't want to stop hiding. no matter how hard I tried him to come to me.But hours later I walked in and he came to me. He sat on my lap and let me pet him as usual(just like normal). Well that was bout 4 hours ago. I put him in my room so I know he'd be ok for the night. Hes starting to act really skittish. For awhile he wouldn't stop walking around the small room. He then ran to a corner and is frantically licking his whole body. He's resting now and camly licking his paws while laying down.

I'm afraid there's something that could be seriously wrong and is slowly coming day by day. I'm scared because I love this cat. It's like a family with a dog for over 20 years and then he's gone. Has anybody had the same problems and symptoms of there pet/cat?? And if yes what happened?

I'm so sorry :(
I've been having kind of the same worrying about my kitty Todd (he's 11 and has really bad weight swings) and one point he's over weight... than other times he's on the skinny side :(
I have barely any money... but when I do take him to the vet for other things.. the vet never mentions anything about it... so it makes me feel a little better... he's my whole world as well.. he sleeps with me at least 4 times a week.

I think if you are really worried... you should take him back to the vet... the weight loss and weird behavior can just be stress from the fight... but then again I'm not a vet... so I really don't want to give you misleading info :)

As of lately... Todd has been skinny but still really friendly.. but when he doesn't sleep in my room he sleeps in some pretty odd places... he also likes to sleep fully under blankets anymore... it worries me so much... but at the same time he's always been a little off :p

Idk... like I said before... if you can afford it... I think what would be best is to go visit your vet again... tell him/her all the things that are worrying you... and see what all they can do for you and your kitty :)

I wish you and your cat the best of luck!!! I really do!
I understand what it's like to be so freaking attached to an animal... some days I'll joke and say Todd and I have a suicide pact... once he's gone... I'm offing myself too :DD
Which I really wouldn't do... but some days I really wonder how I can go on without him!!! Same thing with all of my other pets :( <33

IF YOUR CAT HAS FELINE LEUKAEMIA THE ONLY THING YOU CAN DO IS LOVE HIM. THIS IS THE CAT FORM OF INCURABLE CANCER. IT PASSED FROM CAT TO CAT LIKE A HUMAN COLD - NOSE TO NOSE CONTACT, SCRATCHES, FECES ETC. IT DOES NOT TRANSFER TO HUMANS. IF HE HAS IT HE WILL START SLOWING DOWN - LESS PLAY, DIFFICULTY JUMPING UP, HE WILL RUN OUT OF STRENGTH.

IF HE WOULDN'T COME TO YOU PERHAPS HE WASN'T FEELING WELL; MAYBE THE CYST WAS ACHING AND HE DIDN'T WANT TO INTERACT WITH YOU OR ANYONE ELSE. WE HUMANS WANT TO BE LEFT ALONE WHEN WE FEEL LOUSY. MAYBE THE CYST HAD STARTED SWELLING UP SOME, CAUSING HIM PAIN AND IF IT DRAINED AGAIN HE FELT BETTER.

IF YOU WERE LOCKED IN A SMALL AREA, IMAGINE WHAT YOU WOULD DO WHEN YOU ARE USE TO HAVING THE WHOLE WORLD AS YOUR TERRITORY. THE LICKING WOULD BE CAUSED BY THE STRESS OF HIS CONFINEMENT. HE HAS CALMED DOWN NOW, BECOMING ACCUSTOMED TO HIS SMALLER SURROUNDINGS.

TO REALLY SHOW THAT YOU LOVE HIM, NEVER EVER LET HIM OUTDOORS AGAIN, NO MATTER HOW MUCH HE CRIES OR SCRATCHES OR PACES. THAT IS LIKE SHOVING A BABY INTO THE MIDDLE OF AN UNMAPPED MINEFIELD. FIGHTS, FELINE LEUKAEMIA, FLEAS, TICKS, MOVING CARS, LOCKED IN A GARAGE, INGESTING ANTIFREEZE DRIPPED ONTO THE ROAD, CLIMBING INTO A CAR ENGINE AND IT GETS TURNED ON AND SOOO MANY MORE DANGERS LIVE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF A CAT'S FAVORITE WINDOW. HE WILL SOON ADJUST TO BEING INSIDE. IF YOU FEEL SORRY FOR HIM, REALIZE THAT YOU ARE LOVING HIM MORE. MAKE SURE HE HAS A FEW FUN TOYS AND PLAY WITH HIM MORE SO HE DOESN'T GET LAZY AND FAT. ENJOY BEING ABLE TO SPEND MORE TIME WITH HIM.

IF SOME DAY YOU GET A NEW CAT, HAVE THE VET DO THE FE LUK BLOOD TEST ON IT BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE. IF IT IS NEGATIVE THE VET CAN GIVE HIM AN INNOCULATION SO THAT IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN TO HIM.

I HOPE I HAVE BEEN HELPFUL. I WISH YOU AND YOUR SWEET THING THE BEST OF LIFE.
