leukemia- i have a question, i cant tell if a girl is faking it...?
Okay, so i recently found out my best friend has leukemia and i found out from my boyfriend. shes only told about 4 people, and yet her brother and sisters who are very close with her dont know. wouldnt you tell family/close ones?

everyday she complains about it and says how shes not taking pills for it because "its not worth it", and then she says excuses about how shes weakening after one night of not taking "these pills". shes had it for 6 months. i cannot tell if this is a joke or not.

she almost seems like shes saying this just to keep friends or to make people feel bad for her, and the fact she just said she has "acute lymphotic luekema" when its actually "acute lymphocytic leukemia".

also, she knows nothing about it after 6 months. wouldnt you think after 6 months youd know all about it and the doctors would tell you what you had? she says shes going to go to research soon...

do i sound like a bad friend or do i sound right?
can anyone tell me about leukemia?/symptoms?

- Tungsten
You can tell if she's lying by her appearance. 6 months is a long time for a leukemia patient to live or at least without definite evidence.

She has a mental disorder though. It's called Munchausen syndrome.

Read about the case of Kaycee Nicole:

Sounds like her.

EDIT:

And leukemia doesn't just go away with "pills"...

EDIT:

Is she pale? Is she VERY thin?

If not, then NO. She does NOT have leukemia.

So, is she claiming that she has gone to the doctor and was diagnosed with it, or did she self diagnose this? Either way, don't jump and say she's a liar, because she might just be telling you the truth. If you are really that curious, bite the bullet and call her mom and ask. Just say something like "so, how has so and so's health been lately? She seems a little different to me... is she keeping something from me?" something like that. If she is faking it, she needs to wake up and smell the roses. Leukemia is a very deadly disease, my boyfriend's mom died of it when he was 9, and my dad's best friend died of it about a decade ago. It is a devastating illness that affects not just the patient, but their family, too. Some people battle it for years, going through thousands of dollars worth of chemo and transplants. If she really does have it, give her all the sympathy you can.

I agree with the above answerer. Sounds like Munchhausen. She would be going through Chemo and would have lost weight, hair and had a slue of other symptoms.

She's using this as a sick way to get attention.

Also her family would all know about it. There's no way that her parents would keep that sort of secret from her siblings.

HI! Is she faking it?

well let me say this.. My little niece, I say little because she is 25.. I am twice her age.. she was diagnosed in July 08 with ALL.. she has been in hosp. having treatment most of this time, when she is home her mum gives her injections and tablets, 4 mths on she has lost all of her hair.. 5 mths on she is pale, tired.. and really finding it hard to continue with the plasma she has to have, the blood she has to have.. the needles the tablets.. she was in ICU for 7 wks.. with a serious staph. infection caused by an iv..on life support, in a coma..she got through that, how, the doctors are still amazed, so are we all... she, yesterday the 5th nope make that thurs 4th she was in hosp. having a line put into her heart, two hours of surgery.. so come monday the 8th dec she can have chemo in 5 lines.. all different mixtures for 36 hrs straight.. now.. is your friend faking it?

I do not know.. ask yourself a few things,

1/ is she nauseaus/throwing up?
2/ is she tired
3/ is she pale
4/ has she lost or losing her hair?

has not told her family.. mm!! sounds to me she has been watching too much Home and Away..

I honestly hope she does not have leaukaemia, because anyone who makes like of cancer is a very sad person.. it is not a good disease, I have had it twice.. J

It really sounds like she's faking it, which actually really makes me mad to know that there are people out there faking such horrible diseases just to get attention while others are out there actually having to suffer through it. After six months, you would definitely know a lot about the disease. Also, chemotherapy sometimes comes in the form of a pill, however you will notice that she will be more pale, become skinnier, be sick to her stomach, etc. If she isn't doing any of those things, it's probably safe to say that she is faking. Also, no one decides not to take these chemotherapy pills because "its not worth it". If I were you, I would confront her.
