Leukemia: is it possible to have a normal blood test in the early stage?

Leukemia: is it possible to have a normal blood test in the early stage?
It's just something I'm curious about...is it possible to have a normal blood test in the early sort of stages of it? So...I mean, having the sort of symptoms etc, but not apparent on the blood tests until later on?

Thanks :)

SamDavies,
The symptoms of leukaemia may mimic other less serious conditions so a physical exam will be ordered and the patient's medical history will be recorded. Following that, blood tests are ordered - Complete Blood Count (CBC) combines tests to measure levels of red cells, white cells, and platelets in the body as well as how the cells look. A Peripheral Blood Smear is where the blood cells are dyed and looked at under a microscope for the presence of immature "blast" cells. Until unusual ranges are recorded, blood tests would be expected to be 'normal.' In this state, there would likely be no symptoms of leukaemia. I add a link below with details of this subject.
