mother is fighting leukemia.A sterile enviorment is crucial. She dropped her pills which cost 00.can she use
she dropped her pills on the living room floor. It is not sterile, there is cat hair, dander, and misc. She was released from the hospital last week following a stem cell transplant. The insurance does not want to replace them. they are very important pills which protect her liver from complications involving her transplant (voriconazole). Is there anyway to sterilize a pill? She is taking the pills in the interim, hoping she will not contact a infection (often fatal at this stage). Please, any advice is appreiciated.

I'm not sure but maybe a pharmacist would know? I would definitely try to give them a call and see what they recommend.

At pill time keep something such as clean towel under her hand or directly assist her yourself. Ive never heard of pill being contaminated if retrieved quickly. Not taking it would cause more of problem I presume. Is she also taking Zinc. vit C so on ,,to help boost system,, if not inquire as it should do no harm. I would keep call pharmacies to ask how to clean a dropped pill. AND Maybe even get in direct contact to manufactorory of the pill itsself. Its your right to know who makes it and their #. *mamatx
