Would these blood tests indicate leukemia if it was present? And what else?
(Australian terms; I don't know if they differ overseas).
The tests are:
- Full blood examination
- Urea, electrolytes, creatinine
- Thyroid function test
- LFT
- Iron studies
- love4bushy
Yes it would as i know an 8 yr old that has had the same tests and they found leukemia.
Not sure of any others though.

Full blood examination itself followed by cell studies for malignancy will tell the doctor. LFT is Liver Function Test. Thyroid Test will tell you about the Thyroid gland which controls the metabolism etc. Iron studies plus blood test will tell you about anemia. Urea, Electrolytes and Serum creatinine will tell you about the urinary system, kidneys etc.
Leukemia is a cancer of the blood cells at the bone marow level. Check out www.webmd.com and type Leukemia to get information about the diagnosis and treatment etc.

One Month Old Baby Fighting Leukemia
VICTORIA - The holidays are a time when families come together, but this Christmas a family from Saanich is being torn apart. Dave and Rebekah Campbell have five children under seven. One month old Molly is their youngest. Molly developed a fever on December 23rd and was taken to the emergency room at Victoria General Hospital. On Christmas Eve, doctors diagnosed the tiny baby with leukemia and rushed Molly and her devastated parents to BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver. Molly and her parents have been at the hospital ever since. She has had hundreds of tests and gone through surgery to keep her little body alive. Doctors say she'll need to stay in hospital in Vancouver for at least six months. That has friends and family concerned about how the large family will be able to afford to stay together when dad Dave, the sole provider for the family, can't work. They have set up a website about Molly and her struggle. They're asking for donations to help pay for the Campbell's mortgage and rent in Vancouver.
