I don't know the theory for why this happens. All I know is that Downs is due to a genetic abnormality and leukemia is associated with somewhat similar genetic abnormalities. These genetic abnormalities result in the manufacture of abnormal proteins inside the cell. However, how this all works together, I don't know.
