His blood count is all in the normal range except for the white WBC differential. The Neutrophil count was low, Lymphocyte was elevated and Monocyte was elevated. All the red cells were normal along with his hemoglobin etc. Am I just being paranoid?

well check it again because i was told this when i had a blood test and then i had another a few weeks later and it was fine
it could be chance that at that moment you had a low count or they could have messed the results up somehow..test it again to make sure, then worry
also low white blood cell count can be caused by more things than leukemia.just get it checked out

the diff is fine. what is the whole WBC count. dont look at the diff. you are being paranoid. if it was cancer there would be young cells. there are not.

CMH 2010 - Koster Interview

Diagnosis: PKU (rare genetic metabolic disorder)/Leukemia Matthew was diagnosed with PKU at 10 days old and would grow up normal if he maintained a special diet. He thrived until he was 3. His parents were grateful that his disorder could be managed with a special diet and it was not a life threatening illness. However, in August of 2005, Matthew was diagnosed with Leukemia. Initially, he had an 80-85% survival rate with chemo. 2 weeks after the diagnosis, it was determined that Matthew had a rare chromosome abnormality and w/oa stem cell transplant, his survival chances were 5-10%. Lauren, Matthew's sister was a good match and became his donor. It was a roller coaster for his parents watching his white blood cells rise and drop and his other organs began having problems after the initial stem cell transplant. After a second stem cell transplant, Matthew's white blood cell count did rise; however, his body had endured too much. He passed away on January 15, 2006 UPDATE: Cailin is now 2 and Lauren just began 1st grade . Matthew's story continues to inspire others (see next page for letter) Omron Foundation brought in a 00 "Power Burst" in memory of Matthew.
