If a Leukemia patient quits responding to chemo therapy, is there anything else that can be done for them.?
My step father is no longer responding to chemo therapy for his Leumemia. Are there other therapies the will help him?

Well, I hate to say this but there isn't any other therapy not as i know of. I lost my best friend from that and she was only 18 years old.

He could use alternative forms of medicine- like marijuana. It works, and I'm being serious before anyone considers giving me a thumbs down.
Also, optimism will truly help physiologically. Remaining upbeat will help curb the negative side affects of cancer.
BTW, these are not cures for cancer, as the answerer a few below me mentioned, and I wasn't suggesting either of these are cures, you asked for therapeutic advice.

Prayer...thirty years ago my aunt was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. The doctors told her that she would live for only three months ..if that. She is a live today by the grace of God

As for the answers above me, marijuana is not gonna cure cancer. Though it will help with side effects.
See www.marrow.org for more info on the terms and proceedures I have mentioned.
Has he tried a bone marrow (stem cell) transplant. I have AML. I was first treated with chemo. Docs had planned an autologous stem cell transplant but were unable to collect enough cells. I stayed in remission for roughly a year and had a relapse. Was treated with chemo, put into remission, then given a cord blood transplant with chemo and and tbi. I am on like day 77 from my transplant and all is well so far.
It is a risky proceedure but often the only chance of a cure for a lot of leukemia and lymphoma patients.
I am being treated at Wake Forrest University and Duke University, participating in clinical trials. I was lucky enough to already live in this area with 2 great hospitals.

bone marrow transplants are usually a last resort and are often successful. I hope you Step Dad gets well soon.
