Questions about Leukemia?
My friend was recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Before she was diagnosed they just thought that she had Strep Throat. I've been sick with Strep for about two weeks now and I'mnot getting any better. I decided to go ahead and look at symptoms and I noticed a few things. I still have bruises that I got a few months ago. I've been bleeding a little more than I should be. Just small cuts that I've gotten have been bleeding uncontrollably.
Some things that have been wrong that I've noticed are that I've had an off and on fever. Sore throat. Cough. Been getting out of breath really easily. Here and there I'll get really weak, but its not always. And I haven't had much of an appetite.
I realize the chances of me having cancer are slim, but I just want to be safe. I'm probably just scaring myself. Should I head into the doctor? Or wait to see if everything goes away?
Thanks,
Kelsey

you're probably just afraid because of your friend. Your brain can actually trick yourself into seeing things as symtpoms, that aren't really there. And the weakness and out of breath could be from not eating, if you don't have much of an appetite, could also be that you're anemic, which is simple to fix with an iron supplement. If you're worried just go to the doctor, they can figure it out.

Dear Kelsey,
99% of all illness are related to mental illness. We may be paranoid and distort reality without knowing it. For once I thought I was suffering from schizophrenia and later I started showing symptoms for HIV, and in the end I realized that it was all in my head and my imagination was going wild.
However, the symptoms you are describing does coincide with some of Leukemia. First of all, whatever it is, I DON'T want you to panic. Have you been having nose bleeds lately? fever that lasts very long? and as for sore throat and cough and out of breath i get that too once in a while so it's not a big deal.
But if I were you, I would definitely go to the doctor ASAP. Staying scared will just make things worse in some cases. Even in the worst case -- so what if you're diagnosed with leukemia? there have been miraculous cancer survivors who have maintained an optimistic attitude and their diseases were gone, you just have to have faith and believe in yourself and you will recover! :D But that's only.. if you have it. Maybe you don't have leukemia at all ^_^ lets hope!
All the best luck.
Do NOT panic :) xx

The best thing to do is to head to the doctor and they will be able to run some tests to see if you have leukemia. Just because your friend has this, doesn't mean that you do.
