She was a dropped off kitten, took her to the vet and found this out, anyone know how to help build up her immune system?

Did the vet give you any ideas?

Cats with the disease can live several years without showing signs or symptoms of the disease. So I would let her live until she is suffering and then I would have her put to sleep. But in the mean time to make sure her time is longer and happier there are a few things that can help but certainly not cure. One of the first things to do is get her spayed. If she has kittens the disease will pass to them. Keep her inside the house where she will not come in contact with any other cats, the disease is contagious. If you have another cat in the house have them tested and if negative then get them the vaccine for the disease but you should still try to keep them separate. The disease is spread through the saliva. So grooming each other, fighting, eating, or drinking after each other can spread the disease.

Here are a few ideas of things that can be done to help the cat. the number one problem with leukemia is secondary infection. So you should always clean her little box every day to make sure there is no bacteria that is growing in there. You don't want to stress the cat, so as few vet visits as possible do not take the cat outside. If you are going to have company keep her in a room they will not go in simply scaring her is a stresser. Make sure to feed her very high quality food. I like Hill's Science diet. Don't give her any table scraps. You can give her treats if she wants them but buy high quality ones. Don't let her get too fat. You can get vitamins from your vet to help. Don't give her a bath or get her groomed. That is a stress, cats will clean themselves. You can comb her if you like. Make sure to keep her up with vaccines. And please make sure you call ahead and make an appointment you don't want to have to sit in a lobby with a bunch of sick cats. At the first sign of illness go to the vet. Don't wait even a day. Early treatment can save your cat's life.
